Explainer Videos Becoming More Popular in Marketing Circles… Don’t Miss the Boat!
If you’re not familiar with explainer videos, they’re short, engaging, online videos that explain and promote a company, product, or service. You will find plenty of examples at Ydraw.
Why Have Explainer Videos Grown in Popularity?
There are no shortage of statistics that show the positive effect video can have on conversion rates, sales, and information retention, but the bottom line is this – if you could learn about something by watching a quick, entertaining video, or read a page of text, which would you choose?
Explainer videos can cut short the time taken to explain about a business and its products. They are a fun way to engage the visitors, who may not always be in a mood to go through the loads of texts available on a website. Being equipped with texts, graphics, sounds and moving images, they can give a movie like effect to a viewer.
According to a recent survey conducted by Video Rascal,
85 percent of people are more likely to buy a product once they see an accompanying explainer video.
Explainer videos help budding business owners keep tally of how many visitors on their sites could become actual customers. Although most businesses manually count sales to see what products are most popular, explainer videos keep track of what product or service potential customers are interested by displaying the number of views on each video.
Text can be tricky since there are so many ways people can interpret what they read. Explainer videos take the guess work out of explaining the usefulness and basic function of a product or service. People gain a better understanding of a product or service once they see and hear someone explain it. An explainer video helps you to connect better with your potential customer by explaining what your business can do for them and why they should choose you over other competing businesses.
Statistically speaking, stale websites don’t do well. Websites that contain endless pages of block text and images rank low in Google search, which means less exposure. This also scares away customers who want to quickly understand a product, and purchase it right then and there. In most cases, the average person takes less than a minute to make a purchasing decision. An explainer video will get their attention immediately.
According to Spork Marketing and several others, websites with videos rank higher in Google universal searches.
Video Scribing: Who are YOU going to Choose?
Video Scribing Companies seem to be popping up all over the place, so I am going to write a little guide on choosing the best video scribing company. Ok, so you have a special product that you want to get sent out to the world, and you realize that you need the perfect video. That is great! You have made a good decision. Now it comes down to WHO.
Here are some steps to help you on your journey in finding the best video scribing company around that works in your budget and creates good quality video scribing:
1. Find a company that will pick up their phone and return your emails in a timely manner.
You might think this is a no-brainer, but I have made many different calls to explainer video companies (under my pseudo name of course) and a lot of them never call me back. It doesn’t make sense to me, a good video scribing company should always have good communication.
2. Make sure the video scribing company you are interested in has the perfect artwork.
Do not put out a video that does not look professional. This doesn’t mean you have to go over your budget. Keep searching until you find the right style of art at the right price, with the right quality.
3. Look for a company that has experience.
All of us have to get our start from some place, but make sure the Video Scribing Company you choose is not getting their start with you. You could end up getting a bad video and loosing valuable time and money in the process.
What is a good Price to pay for Video Scribing?
Each week we get a lot of people looking for a low budget video. I feel bad for them, and would really like to produce the perfect video for their company, but this is not a cheap process. It takes a team of talented people working around the clock to complete an amazing video scribing video. So what is a good price to pay? Here are your price ranges for a typical video scribing video:
- High: $7,500 per minute
- Medium: $3,000 per minute
- Low: $1,500 per minute
I know that is a pretty big range, but when you call around, you will see that people are all over the board with their pricing strategies. I do not suggest that you break the bank to get your video scribed video, but I would not go with a company that is at $1,500 a minute. Their quality will likely be lacking. Try to stay towards the middle of the pack, because there are a lot of video companies that are over-priced.
So ultimately, my suggestion is to call around. Chat with different companies and see how you feel. And as always, Ydraw is always here for you, and would love to answer any question you may have about video scribing.
Video Scribing and 5 Things you Need to Know
Video scribing is powerful and will be used more and more as it comes into the main stream media. But there are things you should consider and know before hiring a video scribing company. Lets run over a couple.
1. Demo & References
When you are considering a video company you must ask for demos and references. Can the potential video vendor supply a demo of their work featuring previous clients? There should be no hesitation to ask, and the video scribing company should have no hesitation when supplying you with a demo video and references. If the company is hesitant to provide you demos or their satisfied clients as references, they may not have any!
2. Creative Control
What check points are along the way when approving your video? During the script writing process, you should have final approval on the script before production is scheduled. You should have the final say on your artwork, music, voice recording, and layout. That is just all part of the process and part of creating a great video. Be sure you understand the process and where you have the ability to make changes.
3. Re-writes and Re-edits
I would like to say that video scribing companies love re-writes and re-edits, but we do not. They are costly but they are a part of the business and we are happy to do them for any client. We allow our clients to make adjustments until they are satisfied-all within reason. You need to be aware of this when hiring a production company. Often times there will be clauses in the contract that does not allow corrections or changes without charging you money. Make sure you are allowed 2 to 3 opportunities to provide feedback and make changes.
4. Additional Costs
Nobody likes additional costs especially after payout a good chunk of money for a video. Make sure your agreement clearly details additional costs such as animation sequences, stock footage, color, music, voice recording, etc. Make sure you understand what you are getting in your video. What is included and what is not included. A good video scribing company will not try and nickel and dime you along they way. If additional costs continue to be added on after the process has become you might consider a different route.
This is a big one! Video scribing is an investment and that last thing you want is a horrible video that you do not like. It is a sign of complete commitment from your video scribing company that they can guarantee your complete satisfaction. A well-produced video can become the crown jewel of your marketing department, representing a compelling, story-driven presentation of your products, company history, and the core values of your company. Guarantees are rare in the marketing industry. It is a good thing to have some sort of guarantee or at least have a company committed to your satisfaction.
Good luck and please let us know if you have any question or if you would like a video scribing video.
